We did a half day tour in Tahiti which went for around 4 hours and this was enough time to drive right around the whole island. We opted for the half day tour in the morning this way we had the rest of the afternoon to go around the main city to have a look around the local shops. The half day tour inlcuded 4 major stops:

Tahara's view point
Arahoho Blow Hole - this is quite a humarious one, the blow hole is not that big at all in fact it's located on the side of the road
Gauguin Museum (Paul Gauguin)
Water Fall and Grottoe

We found out about Dave merely by chance we went to book a tour at our hotel desk that morning and the major tour company was fully book, the lady on the front desk was nice enough to refer Dave's Tour. It was a very pleasant experience, I learned alot of interesting notes about the islands history during the tour.

When we finished our tour Dave dropped us off at the tourist information centre which is in the heart of the main city of Papeete. The local shops are filled of souvenir items and plenty or Pearl stores to choose from. You can easily walk around the main streets of the city, plenty of little bars and shops to browse in.

There are plenty of other tour you can choose, you can even have day trips to the other major islands like Moorea and Bora Bora from the main island if you wish which is operated by the major tour operator in Tahiti (Tahiti Nui Travel).
